Will wearing high heels make my calves tight?
Your calf muscle, or your gastroc, is attached to the back of your heel by the Achilles tendon. Wearing high heels puts your foot at a high pitch, and over time, this makes your calf muscle and your achilles tendon, contract for extensive periods of time, causing it to be less flexible and feel tighter. Then when you wear flatter shoes, the achilles tendon stretches out and may cause pain at the back of the heel where the tedon inserts.
