High arched feet can simply be a reflection of your genetics. Having parents/grandparents with high arched feet means that you may also inherit this foot type. Another cause of high arched feet is neuromuscular disease. The type of neuromuscular disease can include damage to a particular nerve in the leg which leads to muscle imbalance - or it can be due to neuromuscular diseases such as Charcot Marie Tooth or muscular dystrophy. When we see a high arched foot type, we will always ask if there is a history of neuromuscular disease - as this should be addressed alongside addressing your high-arched feet.
