Although there are several reasons for heel and arch pain, one common condition associated with heel pain is plantar fasciitis. When there is inflammation and daily strain of the plantar fascia, pain can occur in the morning when you first step out of bed, when you sit for a prolonged period of time and then return to standing, as well as being on your feet for prolonged activity throughout the day. Symptoms can range from sharp and shooting pain to a more bruised or achy pain. With heel pain, we are always caution to rule out other diseases that can mimick plantar fasciitis.
