Not necessarily. The night splint has 2 main methods to stretch your achilles tendon and plantar fascia. The night splint alone provides a great stretch to both these structures and the addition of the toe strap helps get even further stretch on the plantar fascia ligament. If the toe strap feels like too much or is uncomfortable, stop using it until you are more used to the splint itself and ask your doctor at your next visit if you can add it back in. Some other foot conditions can make the toe strap less tolerable but we still need to get you stretched!
