I have a few criteria that tell me its time to operate on a patient. While the answer is based on every individual case, these are some reasons that lead patients to surgical intervention:
1-Pain preventing you from wearing certain types of shoes
2-Pain when you push off the ground when walking
3-The big toe is "crowding" or bumping into the 2nd toe.
4-You feel "crunching" or "popping" in your big toe joint.
5-You have persistent redness or swelling in the area.
If you have any of these symptoms (or you just want to have your bunion "checked out"), call our office today for a xrays and a full evaluation. All of our doctors are surgically trained and can advise you if surgery is right for you.
