Q How did I get neuropathy?
Neuropathy can be caused by identifiable reasons such as uncontrolled diabetes, a history of alcohol abuse, history of use of certain chemotherapy drugs or trauma. Still other causes remain unknown and are classified as ‘idiopathic.’ Neuropathy happens usually as a result of damage to the lining around the nerve which essentially insulates the nerve and when damaged, normal nerve signals cannot be sent. Sometimes the damage can occur at the level of the nerve as well.
