We know these are tough times, and we hope that you and your families are well. We want you to know that private medical practices, like ours, have been asked to continue operations to prevent our patients with injuries such as fractures, severe sprains, or lacerations or infections or severe pain from taxing the already overwhelmed emergency rooms.

We are doing our part to help prevent our patients from needing to go to the hospital by keeping our doors open for the types of appointments listed above. In addition, as often as possible we have moved to providing telemedicine services to our patients. This is possible due to the very recent changes in coverage from insurance companies and Medicare, who are now recommending telemedicine as often as it makes sense for patient care. We want to be clear that this is a covered visit option.

Even before this outbreak, telemedicine was popular, especially for convenience, but now it is essential as it helps us to keep our patients, staff and doctors safe by allowing everyone to practice social distancing while still taking care of their personal foot health.

Of course, we can’t perform procedures remotely. So if you feel like you may need an x-ray, injection or are concerned that you have an ingrown toenail, we’ll have to see you in our office. But we can address any of your concerns with a telemedicine consultation, so if you prefer this as a convenient option, or a healthier solution, we are here to make it happen!

Here is how it works:

1. Call the office at 630-834-FOOT and schedule an appointment, specifying that you would like an telemedicine visit (or e-visit).

2. You will receive an email confirming the e-visit along with a link and meeting ID. The telehealth visit will be completely private.

3. We will be using Zoom meeting as the telehealth platform. If you are accessing via your computer (www.zoom.us or just click the link that is emailed), you will be asked to download a small program to your computer. If you are accessing the meeting using your phone or tablet, please download the free Zoom meeting app prior to our scheduled appointment.

Not sure when to choose this option? Telemedicine visits may be a good choice for a follow-up visit, a consultation about a dermatological condition, such as athletes’ foot or toenail fungus, or for discussing a recent sports injury that may have left you in pain. During your visit, your Doctor will be able to have a detailed conversation with you about your situation, and even send in prescriptions if they are appropriate.

We hope you will find this new service helpful for maintaining your foot and ankle health while maintaining your social distancing. We sincerely hope that you and your family stay safe through this uncertain time. Our team is here to help support you in any way we are able to.

Attention Medicare Patients: In addition to zoom telehealth, Medicare has authorized us for telephone visits, so if zoom is not an option for you, we are able to schedule a telephone visit and bill it through Medicare! Just let us know when you call to schedule it!
