So how do you really know your child is hurt and not just being dramatic?

Moms (and the Dads) wonder this all the time!  Really, if we ran to the doctor every time they said something hurt or they "twisted" something, we would live there!

Many times parents come in and wonder if they waited too long or also are afraid they will feel foolish if they brought them in for nothing.

Really it's a true case of "better to be safe than sorry." I can tell you that it's almost always something.

Sometimes it's a full blown injury or fracture that needs to be treated immediately....then again it could just be the start of something that can be easily stopped in its tracks.

Here are my criteria for when to bring in your child:

  • Pain that persists constantly for 48 hours
  • Limping for more than 24 hours
  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Off and on complaints of pain with no other issues? Wait a week... still complaining?  Bring them in for an appointment with one of our doctors today.  We have SAME DAY appointments for anyone with an urgent issue, so don't delay.
