Average Foot Size is Growing
In a recent email blast, there was a blurp about the increasing foot size in the UK. Apparently, since 1970, the average shoe size in men has grown from an 8 to a size 10 and in women from a 4 to a size 6. Increasing foot sizes are something that comes along with increased height and weight in the average individual. From the heel to the toe, the foot can be bigger because of changes in diet and nutrition. In addition to this, when people gain weight, their feet tend to splay more and can cause a wider foot.
Curious thought - does this mean that in another 40 years the average foot size in men will be 12 and in women an 8? (Being a 9.5, I'd still be above average, but a size 12 as an average in men is CRAZY!)
